Allen’s established neighborhoods come with mature trees, tight lots, and HOA standards — so the right sod choice matters. We grade, prep, and lay fresh-cut sod that roots in and lasts. Veteran-owned, insured, no contracts.
Allen isn’t a blank new-build slate like some of its neighbors. Many lawns here are 15–25 years old, with mature shade trees, settled grades, and HOAs that notice a patchy yard.
That changes the sod equation. Under a mature live oak in Twin Creeks or Cumberland Crossing, full-sun Bermuda will thin out within a season — the wrong grass is the most common reason an Allen re-sod fails. We start by reading your light: how many hours of direct sun each zone gets, where the tree canopy throws shade, and how the existing grade drains. Then we match the cultivar to the conditions and prep the Blackland clay underneath so the new lawn actually takes.
We install throughout Allen including Twin Creeks, Watters Creek, Star Creek, Montgomery Farm, Cumberland Crossing and the lakeside neighborhoods near Allen Station Park.
Allen’s mix of open backyards and tree-shaded fronts means cultivar choice is rarely one-size-fits-all. We’ll often recommend different grass for different zones of the same property.
The go-to for Allen’s tree-heavy front lawns. Broad-bladed and genuinely shade-tolerant where Bermuda gives up. Our most-recommended sod for established neighborhoods.
Best for open, sunny backyards. Fast, tough, drought-hardy, and great with kids and dogs. We pair it with St. Augustine on mixed-light lots.
Dense and soft with better shade tolerance than Bermuda — a manicured look that suits Allen’s HOA-forward streets and handles partial shade.
We map sun, shade, and how your lot drains — then recommend the cultivar (or mix) and quote it in writing before we start.
Out come the dead turf, weeds, and thin Bermuda that never handled the shade.
We loosen and amend the compacted Blackland surface so roots can dig in rather than sit on a hard layer.
Delivered fresh and installed same-day, tight-seamed and staggered for one seamless, even lawn.
Rolled for soil contact and watered immediately so it starts rooting before the sun stresses it.
A 30-day watering and mow schedule built around Allen’s watering restrictions — especially important under shade where soil stays damp longer.
Pricing is per-yard, not one-size-fits-all. Here’s what we factor in and explain to you up front:

St. Augustine. Allen has a lot of mature trees, and Bermuda simply won’t hold under that much shade. St. Augustine is broad-bladed and shade-tolerant — it’s our most-recommended grass for established Allen neighborhoods.
Usually one of two reasons: full-sun Bermuda was laid under shade trees, or the sod went onto unprepared Blackland clay with no grading. We fix both by matching the cultivar to your light and prepping the soil first.
It varies with yard size, grass type, shade/tree work, and soil prep. We measure your Allen yard and quote in writing before starting — see our sod cost guide for ballpark figures.
Absolutely. Many Allen lawns only need the shaded front or a worn backyard re-done. We can sod a single zone and even mix cultivars across one property to match the light.
Keep traffic off for about two weeks while it roots. We give you a 30-day plan with the first-mow timing, which runs a little longer in shaded areas where soil holds moisture.
In Collin County we focus on installs — sod, landscape, and grading. Our weekly mowing routes are in Grayson County, but we’ll gladly recommend a reliable Allen mowing crew.
