About Barefoot in Celina

The Install Crew for Celina's New-Build Boom

Celina has been one of the fastest-growing cities in the United States for several years running. That is a lot of new houses and a lot of empty lots that need to become yards. We do new-build sod and irrigation installs across Celina on pace with how fast the new builds close.

Our Celina work is install-focused: landscape installation, sod, irrigation installation, mulch, shrub and flowerbed builds, synthetic grass, and sprinkler repair. For weekly mowing, we are happy to recommend a Collin County mowing crew we trust.

Most of our Celina jobs start the same way: new build closes, the builder left the yard looking like construction fill, and you need a real lawn and a real irrigation system before you can actually live in the yard. We handle the whole sequence — grading, sod, irrigation, beds, whatever it takes.

Celina, TX Matters

Why Celina Installs Have a Completely Different Starting Point

Most Celina installs start on a lot that was dirt a month ago. Light Farms, Mustang Lakes, Huntington, and Creeks of Legacy are all still actively building, which means a lot of what we do in Celina is taking a raw new-build lot and turning it into a finished yard in one pass.

The starting conditions matter. Construction leaves the ground compacted, full of debris, and often rough-graded in a way that will not shed water properly. Before sod or irrigation makes any sense, the lot usually needs real grading and sometimes drainage work. Skipping that step is the #1 reason brand-new Celina sod fails in the first summer.

Soil across Celina is blackland clay, same as the rest of North Collin County. It is reactive — swells when wet, cracks when dry. On compacted new-build fill, that movement happens faster and the effects show up sooner. Irrigation systems installed on top of un-graded fill tend to have problems within a year or two.

Grass guidance for Celina new builds: Bermuda is the dominant install — aggressive, drought-tolerant, fills in fast on open lots. Some newer Celina installs opt for Zoysia because it tolerates foot traffic better and uses less water once established. St. Augustine is less common on new-build Celina lots because so many are full-sun open yards without the mature tree cover that shaded grass needs.

New-build HOA work in Celina is serious. Light Farms, Mustang Lakes, and Creeks of Legacy all have their own standards for what yards need to look like, how quickly installs have to happen after closing, and what kinds of bed changes are allowed. We handle the paperwork and approvals as part of the job.

One practical note: the builder's warranty on sod or irrigation usually has tight caveats and shorter timelines than people expect. If you are within that window, check whether a corrective install is covered before the window closes. We can walk through what we see on the lot as part of the estimate.

Celina, TX Landscaping FAQs

Quick answers to what Celina homeowners ask before calling on a new-build install.

Yes. Most of our Celina work is new-build — taking a raw post-construction lot and turning it into a finished yard. Grading, sod, irrigation from scratch, beds, and any drainage work the lot needs. Written quote before any work starts.
No. Our Celina work is install-focused — sod, irrigation, landscape installs, mulch, shrubs, and synthetic grass. For weekly mowing, we are happy to recommend a Collin County mowing crew we trust.
Yes. Builder sod often fails because grading was skipped, irrigation was not actually covering the yard, or the sod was laid on compacted fill without prep. First check your builder warranty window. If you are inside it, that might cover the fix. Outside it, we can regrade, re-prep, and reinstall sod that will actually hold.
Bermuda dominates full-sun new-build Celina lots — fills in fast, drought-tolerant, handles Texas heat. Zoysia is gaining traction because it tolerates foot traffic and needs less water once established, which pays off on larger Light Farms or Mustang Lakes lots.
Yes. We have install experience across all the major Celina HOA communities. Plan review paperwork — design drawings, plant lists, timelines — handled as part of the job.
