Weekly or every other week through the growing season, with trimming, edging and the walks blown off before we leave.
Mowing detailsWeekly mowing, sod, flower beds, drainage fixes, yard cleanups and Christmas lights for Sherman homes. We're a veteran-owned crew based in Denison, 15 to 20 minutes from most of Sherman.

Our shop is at 231 W Woodard St in Denison. Downtown Sherman is about 11 miles away, so Sherman gets the same full service Denison does, weekly mowing included.
The Sherman requests we get most are weekly mowing, bed cleanups with fresh mulch, new landscaping, and turf for the back yards of new builds. Landowners also call us to keep acreage cut, since the city can cite grass taller than 12 inches.
Every job starts with a look at the yard and a written quote. If you're at work when we finish, we'll send you photos.

Everything below is available anywhere in Sherman, from the older streets near downtown to the new builds off FM 1417.

A few recent jobs from around Grayson County. Most of these are in Denison, 15 to 20 minutes up the road.

Heavy clay. Most of the ground in and around Sherman is clay. USDA soil maps put about three quarters of it in the slowest-draining class, and the Fairlie clay found across much of town was first described right here in Grayson County. It cracks open in a dry summer and holds water after a rain. That's why we grade before we lay sod and sort out drainage before we build beds.
Watering rules. When the city moves to Stage 2 of its drought plan, sprinklers are limited to two days a week by address: Sunday and Thursday for even numbers, Tuesday and Saturday for odd, before 10 a.m. or after 8 p.m. Hand watering is allowed any time, and there's no exception for new sod. If you're putting in sod during a dry spell, we'll talk through a watering plan before we start.
The season. Sherman's average first freeze is November 19 and the average last freeze is March 14. Warm-season lawns go tan after that first freeze, so mowing season here runs from spring green-up to the first hard freeze. May and October are the wettest months, which is when drainage problems show up.
Shade and grass choice. St. Augustine handles shade best, but it still needs 4 to 6 hours of sun and can winter-kill this far north. Bermuda wants full sun. Zoysia sits in between. We look at the sun on your lot before we recommend a grass.
New builds. Sherman has grown about 20% since 2020, with new neighborhoods like Heritage Ranch and The Hills of Sherman out by FM 1417 and US-82. A new-build yard often comes with builder sod in front and bare beds. We can finish what the builder left: beds, trees, turf or sod in the back, and drainage where the grading left low spots.
HOA rules. Some Sherman HOAs are strict. The Preston Club Legends covenants, for example, cap lawns at 4 inches and call for edged, mulched beds across the front of the house. If your HOA has rules, send them over and we'll work to them.
Brush and debris. The city picks up brush once a month on request, up to 10 cubic yards, and it says debris from a hired crew shouldn't go to the curb. When we do a cleanup, it leaves in our dump trailer.
